“I appreciate CooperRiis’ emphasis on community. We all need a little help from each other to navigate the human experience of life.”

Mariah moved to Asheville in 2016 for service opportunities with AmeriCorps Project POWER to partner with Children First/Communities in Schools providing direct service to school-aged children.
After completing the AmeriCorps service year, Mariah worked as the Youth Programs Assistant Director 2017-2019 at the Asheville Jewish Community Center and became Youth and Teen Director from 2019-to 2021, serving families in the children’s after-school program and summer day camp, Camp Ruach.
Together with JCC, she collaborated with Asheville Middle School and Asheville High School to recruit, train, and supervise the LIT (Leader in Training Program) students.

Mariah earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Social Work Degree from Ohio University in 2016 and a Masters’s Degree in Social Work from Western Carolina University in 2021.
