During this bicycle tour, he raised awareness of how mental illness need not be debilitating and that recovery is natural. He started brainstorming a concept for his healing center, a place to become whole and embrace recovery. Luckily, he did not have to reinvent the wheel as he came to CooperRiis in 2015 as a volunteer and later transitioned into a full-time Recovery Coach role.
For Jeremiah, recovery is personal as he has experienced depression dating back to his elementary years. He studied outdoor education in college and spent ten years working in NY, CO, UT, and WA states as an outdoor educator. His mental health challenges paralleled his career endeavors, and in 2014, he embarked on a 4-month bicycle tour called “Ride Above Depression”.
Jeremiah loves sharing his passion for mental health recovery and is grateful to work in a therapeutic healing community.
In his free time, you can find him cycling in the mountains of NC or photographing the surrounding area’s beauty.
