Carleigh joined the Asheville Community Program Team (ACP) in December 2018 and has worn many hats: House Advisor, Recovery Coach, Senior House Advisor, Residential Manager, and most recently, Interim Managing Director. After joining the ACP staff, she began to hone her leadership skills and desire to contribute to a holistic recovery approach.
“I love working at ACP because no two days are the same, and opportunities for connection and growth through experiential education are plentiful and rarely squandered. In fostering a supportive environment for our community members in their recovery, I also noticed a change in the ACP’s staff culture. It was then that I committed to maintain and enhance this amazing community, and I’m grateful for the work I get to do every day.”
Before joining CooperRiis, Carleigh worked in the mental health field as a lead guide and as a Utilization Review Specialist at wilderness therapy programs in Utah and Western North Carolina.
Carleigh double-majored in Sociology and Outdoor Recreation with a minor in Adventure Leadership at Asbury University in Kentucky, igniting her passion for working in the mental health field.
Carleigh grew up in Tupelo, Mississippi (birthplace of Elvis!) and has lived all over the US, but ultimately feels most at home in Western North Carolina. Carleigh is an avid runner, a voracious reader, and spends much of her free time outdoors with her partner and their dog, Bowie.
